Alaska paper birch trees, Fairbanks, Alaska. Canon 1Ds Mark III, 400mm f/5.6L, 1/13 sec @ f/32, ISO 100.
As daylight hours begin to increase in Alaska, the month of March is often rich with winter photography opportunities. One can now feel the warmth of the sun on the face, which throws thoughts forward to summer. But before that big melt comes, I’m looking forward to some great photo trips coming soon. I took this photo of Alaska paper birch trees in the boreal forest around my house.

why are the shadows blue?
Ellis, the shadow areas are often blue in color when the white balance is adjusted to make the snow white. This can vary based on the color temperature established in the post production process or in-camera setting.
Great image as always.
