The Aurora borealis in the Brooks Range of Alaska. Canon 5D Mark III, Rokinon 24mm f/1.4, 2 sec @ f/1.4, ISO 800, 12:25 A.M.
Since the month of March is in sight now, this is a shout out to all of you aurora photographers. The period around the equinoxes tend to have slightly heightened aurora activity, and I’ll be out in the field for a few weeks myself next month. A special thanks to all of you who have purchased my Aurora eBook and shared some comments and results of your ventures. I’m wishing you the best of luck on your future endeavors to view and photograph this wonderful night sky phenomena. Be vigilant, have fun, dress warm and I hope the night skies dance for you.

so wonderful Patrick, they must have been bright and dancing , coz even with 2 sec they don’t look very sharp, ur lucky not having any cars in ur way, awesome pic.
Hi Pat!
My brother is moving to Alaska, arriving this Tuesday. He will be working on a NOAA ship in the Bering Sea. I know he will also have some time off to do some exploring. I gave him your website and facebook links so he could follow your amazing photography 🙂 He’s quite the photographer himself. He’s leaving Hawaii and the South Pacific for the Last Frontier! I’ve never seen the Aurora B. but I have a pretty good idea just how beautiful it is through your camera lens! 🙂
Greetings Kim,
Nice to hear from you after all these years! Your brother’s job sounds adventurous and interesting. He is up for some wild experiences for sure!
