During a rare moment of sunshine, at 5:59 AM along Alaska’s Katmai Coast, a rainbow arced over the Aleutian mountains as the narrow band of clear sky let the sun peak through for a short while. The clouds obscured the sun soon following, and dominated the sky during my stay along the coast. There was nothing particularly distinctive about capturing this image, save extracting myself from the tent after only four hours of sleep!

Rainbow over the Aleutian mountain range and the sandy beach shore of Katmai National Park, Alaska Peninsula, southwest Alaska. Canon 5D Mark III, 16-35mm f/2.8L, 1/30 sec @ f/13, ISO 200

Nothing else I can think of to say but ‘spectacular’ on all aspects! But then, that’s why I love your work Patrick. ~namaste
Thank you Charles!
I’ve been stalking your blog for a couple of years now, living vicariously through your images and dreaming of the day I can see Alaska with my very own eyes. Your pictures never disappoint. Freaking beautiful!
Whoa. Awesome shot Patrick. Despite the less than ideal weather it looks like you made up for it when things did come together.

Dave,
Yeah, you know how it goes, you get what you can. The rain pounded on us for two days in torrents, but it is an awesome place for sure.
